After devoting years to learning the trade, founder Rhys O’Donohue finally saw the benefits of owning and operating his own retail outlet. The Moonta Store opened in October 2019. Rhys now runs two retail stores on the Copper Coast. The Moonta store supplies meat to a large number of commercial kitchens around the region.

Amy Nankivell – Ashvell Murray Greys

For Amy, there isn’t much of her time that doesn’t revolve around cattle. Since she can remember, she has always been around cattle at home and found them fascinating. Amy studied a Bachelor of Animal Science at the University of Adelaide, and this is where she found her place in the cattle industry. She was particularly interested in feedlot cattle and has worked in the feed-lotting sector for about six years.

Amy participated in the led steer program through school and then through Uni. Through this program, she really found her love and patience for cattle and in particular, fell in love with Murray Greys. Fast forward to today, and she now owns cattle of her very own.

Amy was encouraged to start her Stud while at Uni and achieved this in 2016 when Ashvell Murray Greys was established. Even though they are breeding stud quality animals, the aim has always been to breed cattle that will be grain fed to produce high-quality beef.
