Rhys wears his heart and his reputation on his sleeve. Care-factor, reputation, and reliability underpins all that Rhys does.

A young man, at just 25 years of age, Rhys had already learned quickly from each lesson life had thrown at him and vowed always to be true to himself. Inspired by his Mum and encouraged by his now late father, some 3 years ago, Rhys embarked on the transition from an employee to a small business owner.

It is indisputable that Rhys knows his trade and the industry well, but that didn’t mean opening a retail butcher shop was going to be easy. Remembering his first few weeks in the George Street Moonta store, Rhys acknowledges the challenges he faced but he took each one in his stride. From making rissoles on demand, because it was hard to predict trade, to accepting the gracious offer of another set of hands until a routine was established, Rhys’ commitment to his venture didn’t faulter.

The dream of harnessing ambition for excellence, coupled with a keen eye for the importance of an in-tact supply chain, from producer to the plate, is now a reality. Rhys speaks of the Moonta shop, where it all began, as his ‘heart store’. There is so much more to this story and commitment to exceptional customer service is at the core. Rhys and his team are delighted with the business they have established and continue to grow.

Now proudly employing a dozen staff across two Copper Coast retail outlets and supplying commercial kitchens and other outlets from Streaky Bay, to Marla and all over the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North, Rhys’ vision is a tangible. A master tradesman, Sebastian’s experience shines through in-store with wisdom and humour. He thrives on his connections with customers and the loyalty to the business this brings. He is proud of the success Rhys has found in YP Gourmet Meats and is equally proud of the comradery in the workplace.

If you ask Sebastian what he loves about the region, he’ll tell you it’s the people and the lifestyle! From the early years around Edithburgh, happy memories underpin the stories he will share. But don’t ask Sebastian about fishing! He’ll tell you that he fattens the fish for others! Do ask Sebastian however, about what he’d recommend for a BBQ or dinner. Partial to a continental sausage, he’d also recommend a steak. Regardless of what your needs are, Sebastian will be sure you keep coming back for more.

With nearly 4 decades of experience in retail, Kate’s love of food and customer service coincided with a ‘sea-change’ and the opportunity to join the 'MGM' family.

As you walk through the door, Kate’s smile is unmissable! You can trust her to help with your menu preparation – whether it’s for a white-linen tablecloth degustation or for a backyard BBQ, Kate understands the importance of quality and value.

A self-confessed foodie, Kate doesn’t just love a roast or a ribeye, slowly cooked over charcoal, you also find her enjoying the best cheese and wine with friends while dinner cooks.
